Nepal Constituent Assembly fails to elect Prez

SECRET BALLOT: The election was a contest between the second and third largest parties.
new Delhi: Nepal's Constituent Assembly has failed to elect a president. However, Madhesi People's Rights Forum leader Parmanand Jha was elected Vice-President.
In a secret ballot held on Saturday, the House saw a vertical split, with the Nepali Congress candidate Ram Baran Yadav falling short by just four votes.
Jha was elected Vice-President with 312 votes, with the support of Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal.
The election was a contest between Congress and CPN-UML, which are the second and third largest parties after the Maoists.
