A childless couple wants to adopt the baby found abandoned in a garbage dump.
New Delhi: A newborn baby boy was found wrapped in a bundle inside a garbage bin in Hatkeshwar, Ahmedabad on Sunday.
According to eyewitnesses, a woman reportedly got out of a Honda City car and threw a bundle into the bin. However, the police has not confirmed these reports.
The baby’s cries soon attracted people’s attention and residents found that the bundle carried a newborn child.
Residents and social workers then took the baby to the neonatal care unit at L G Hospital where he is being treated and his condition is said to be stable.
Meanwhile, a local woman who happened to be nearby when the incident took place, has expressed her desire to adopt the child, in case his rightful parents did not come forward to reclaim him.
Social workers have said that they will start the process of adoption soon.
Based on the complaint filed by a social worker, the police have booked the boy’s unidentified parents on charges of abandoning a newborn.
