New Delhi: The Government on Thursday ruled out any probe into the leakage of the Pathak Inquiry Authority report on Iraq oil contract, saying there was no breach of privilege.

"There is no question of a probe because there is no breach of privilege" of Parliament, Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters.

The Government's rejection comes even as Rajya Sabha Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat said the leak was a "serious matter" and needed to be investigated".

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had voiced a similar view in the House on Monday.

The inquiry report has indicted former external affairs minister Natwar Singh and his son Jagat Singh for misusing their positions to favour some people close to them in procuring oil contracts from the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq in 2001.
