New Delhi: Indian visa applicants to UK will not have to undergo any TB tests. Sources have told CNN-IBN that the UK authorities are not making it mandatory for Indians to undertake any TB tests as of now - not even in future.

They have launched a pilot programme for screening all those applying for visa in the UK.

This pilot programme lists seven countries but India is not part of this list. The list includes Bangladesh and Pakistan.

UK authorities till date have no plans to extend this pilot programme screening to Indian visa applicants.

The move is an attempt by the Labour government to curb the rise in the potentially fatal disease, which usually affects the lungs and spreads through an infected person.

Though the scheme is likely to prove unpopular with immigrants arriving in Britain to see relatives or to work as skilled temporary workers.
