HOUSE IN DISORDER: An upset Chatterjee wanted to know why MPs were being paid for disrupting the House.

New Delhi: Even as the political battle over Union Transport Minister and DMK Minister, T R Baalu raged in Parliament on Monday, Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee once again reprimanded the MPs after he was forced to adjourn the House.
Chatterjee said that MPs who disrupted the House should not be eligible for their daily allowance.
"If there is no work, there should be no pay. Are the MPs being paid Rs 1,000 daily for this?" he demanded.
Pandemonium reigned in Parliament on Monday after the Opposition demanded that T R Baalu resign.
"A member promoting the interests of any entity linked to him is a clear conflict of interest. The Prime Minister and Petroleum Minister are also answerable. We want to know if the PM thinks like Baalu and sees no wrong in this. Deora has not replied to eight letters asking for clarification," BJP leader Jaswant Singh stated.
As soon as Rajya Sabha's session began, the Opposition made it clear that the Prime Minister would have to come and clarify on the Baalu issue. When that did not happen, the NDA and AIADMK boycotted Rajya Sabha.
Baalu is being accused of committing ministerial impropriety. He had got Petroleum Minister Murli Deora to provide gas for companies owned by his family. Even the Prime Minister's Office forwarded several requests to the Petroleum Ministry.
