Chennai: Is there a ‘right age’ for donating an organ? Fifty nine-year-old Preethi Easwar has proved that more than age, it's the spirit that has to be right.

A mother donating her organ to her daughter is not uncommon. But it was not so easy in Preethi Easwar's case since she was too old to be an organ donor in a normal case.

"The donor has to face an ethics meeting. At that time they asked me whether Neenu was my real daughter. They asked me if my son-in-law was paying me for giving half my liver," says Preethi.

Last May, Preethi's elder daughter Neenu was rushed to a hospital in Singapore due to drug-induced Hepatitis.

Then started a search for a liver donor, but the efforts were futile. It was then that Preethi offered her liver to save her daughter.

The right lobe of her liver was grafted into Neenu's. In a few months' time, both were on their feet again.

"I feel good and I think that every mother of my age should keep themselves fit enough, of course, not to donate livers but fitness is the best thing, isn’t it?" says Preethi.

Preethi's is not just a story of a mother's love for child, but also a story with a message – that dnating an organ does not necessarily mean the end of your life.
