Amit i have travelled on 28 th Dec 06 by air sahara from Lucknow to Mumbai. After boarding the flight at 11.30 (departure time of 10.40 am)and starting the engine of the aircraft, we were told that aircraft has developed some technical trouble and it was stopped. All passengers were off loaded from the air craft and told that engineers have been called from Delhi and it will take only half an hour for them to rectify the error. the enginears landed from delhi at 4 pm but could not rectify the error and finally the flight was cancelled at 6 pm in the evening . though we were provided complimentary lunch in the afternoon and were adjusted in another fliht coming at 9 pm at night and landed in Mumbai around 11.15pm. my query is weather i can get compensation if yes then how should i go ahead.

Who cares These type of restrictions will only help in increases the operating cost and keeping airlines service out of reach of common man. I dont understand how tyre burst is not negligance but other technical snag is. And from where will will this compensation money come from? Is is from salaries of negligent employees or by increasing the fare. Or by raising taxes on people who wait at railway station to pay those who had to wait for flights.

and why is it that roadways or railway passangers are not compensated?

sharath Why not all the states in india and does it pertain all the airline carriers like air deccan and all. Air deccan is invariably late and the customer service is really bad. They literally shout at you if you ask them any question. Please make sure it is applied to these carriers too and all over india.

Saurabh Kumar That's really a great news. But I wonder how passengers will know that the flight delay is because of technical snag or poor maintenance of the aircraft. Who will monitor it?

Haris This is going to prove to be the most effective tool in setting back the right standards by all airlines. The air scenario had become almost railway like, with the airlines executives even BEHAVING rudely despite flight delays. Its been totally unbelievably, especially in the no-frills sector!

srinivasan Excellent Judgement!!!! Sometimes one feels these Airlines are a Law unto themselves and harass and torment their passengers inordinately without being brought to book. This judgement would instill fear and raise the levels of service expected from them - for the exhorbitant fares they charge.
