A CRPF jawan was killed and two injured in a landmine blast by Naxals in Malkangiri District of Orissa.
Bhubaneswar: Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had a narrow escape when his car met with an accident near Tamando, about 5 km from Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Patnaik, accompanied by BJD MP Prasanna Patsani and a party MLA, was on his way to address an election meeting ahead of the panchayat polls when the mishap occurred.
His car was passing over National Highway 5, on which the traffic was diverted towards one side of the highway due to the ongoing repair work. A mini-truck coming from the opposite direction, caused the to driver lose grip on the vehicle which hit a bike.
Both the Chief Minister and Patsani suffered minor bruises while five persons, including the two riders of the bike, and three policemen got severely injured in the mishap.
All of them were rushed to the local hospital while four of the injured were later shifted to the SCB medical college hospital in Cuttack.The injured included a sub-inspector of police and two police constables. The Chief Minister cancelled his programme and visited the injured at the hospital and inquired about their condition.
