The first major auction of the year, Osian is currently having a preview of its upcoming auction.
What kind of profits will art make in 2008 is too early to ask but what's on offer in the first big auction of this year.
It's another year that promises to take art to another level. And making a start with that is auction house Osian's that is calling this auction "100 years of Wonder".
Osian's Art Advisory Head Meena Hingorani said, “We've covered 100 years in Indian Art - there's the Bengal School, Progressive artists' group and the contemporaries. So it's the 20th century and a part of the 21st century."
So here's a look at the top three estimates for this auction.
‘The Two Brothers’ by Tyeb Mehta slated for about Rs 2.5 crore. A different style where he's used a mix of colours unlike his other famous works. S H Raza's ‘Encounter’ at an estimate of Rs 2.2 crore and ‘The Head’ by F.N.Souza for Rs 2 crore.
These are the expected names for the top slot but there's also a special focus on the art of the Tagores, Ustad Allah Bukhsh and also Pakistani artist Sadequain. The auction happens on January 19.
