'P' phenomenon rides high, big party in Big Apple

HAIL HARRY: Fans in front of a 20-foot high Whomping Willow tree in New York.
New York: The 'P' phenomenon seems to have taken over the world. A few hours before the release of the last Harry Potter book in the series Pottermania reached frenzied heights across America.
In New York streets fans bid farewell to Harry through messages on a muggle board at a party organised by US distributor of the book – Scholistic.
Fans also flocked to see a 20-foot high Whomping Willow tree and a Deathly Hallows gallery.
While bookstores saw serpentine queues, Potter fans expressed mixed emotions over the end of the series.
“Oh yeah, very bittersweet. I've been in love with it ever since it first came out. Read the books three or four times. It's sad to see it end, but all good things have to come to an end,” says a young fan.
While another fan exclaims, “Id say great job. Congratulations!”
In the Big Apple, major potter parties included a costume bash by Barnes and Noble bookstore in downtown NY and a similar one in the famed Time Warner Center by rival Boarders bookstore.
