New Delhi: The investigation into the Jaipur serial blasts is moving slowly but the Centre wants its political rivals not to criticize it for that.

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil has asked the BJP not to make public its views about the investigation. "No statement which can create misunderstanding between the agencies and Governments should be made by those who are involved in doing their duties,” he said.

"Issues which are not pertinent at this point of time need not be raised now. They were raised in the past. They can be raised in the future. At this time, they are better avoided," Patil said in a statement late Saturday.

"At this point of time, nothing should be done which would create obstacles and misunderstanding and is unhelpful in the task of investigating agencies."

Patil’s statement comes after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urged political parties to avoid politics over terrorism and asked them to work together to tackle it.

Singh hedged when asked if the blasts were an intelligence failure, as suggested by the BJP. He said that no one praised the agencies when they successfully prevented terrorist attacks.

CNN-IBN learns National Security Advisor M K Narayanan has pulled up central agencies for not coordinating' with state intelligence agencies and failing to provide specific warning. Patil’s statement aims to provide some comfort to intelligence agencies.

BJP leader L K Advani had on Saturday said terrorism had spread in India under UPA rule and demanded immediate steps to plug Bangladeshi infiltration. The BJP has been demanding a meeting of Chief Ministers to discuss the subject.

Earlier, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had slammed the Centre's intelligence inputs, saying they are as vague as “weather reports”. Patil’s statement seems to be urging the BJP to avoid criticism for now and downplay the differences between the Rajasthan government and the matter.
