New Delhi: A one-month old infant died and four others fell seriously ill after they were administered polio drops in a village in Assam's Dibrugarh district, a health official said on Monday.

The infant died at the Community Health Centre in Sasoni Hukhani Dighaliya village on Sunday, Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer of Family Health and Welfare of Dibrugarh, Pramode Chandra Hazarika reported to PTI.

While two of the seriously ill children have been admitted to a nursing home in Duliajan, the others have been taken to Assam Medical College Hospital.

A medical team comprising the state observer of Polio Immunisation, Tulika Goswami Mahanta, UNICEF'S Health Consultant Arpita Borgohain and Dibrugarh District Immunisation Officer Diganta Goswami went to the village to assess and monitor the situation, reported PTI.
