Gujarat: Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi faces yet another election in December, but unlike previous times this time around, he faces a stiff challenge not from the Congress but from his own colleagues within the BJP.

Former Gujarat chief minister, Suresh Mehta and former home minister Gordhan Zadaphiya are already in New Delhi to chalk out their anti-Modi campaign, now that elections are just two months away.

"All of Gujarat is rebelling against Modi. Everyone is dissatisfied," says Mehta.

Led by another former chief minister, Keshubhai Patel this BJP rebel group wants Narendra Modi out — but that is easier said than done.

In the last five years, Modi has positioned himself as the showpiece of Gujarat. For some he is a villain, the architect of post-Godhra communal carnage. For others, he is the CEO of Gujarat, the poster boy of Hindutva.

And the man himself is confident of winning

"I welcome elections. Elections in our state have always been free and fair," is what Narendra Modi has to say on the subject.

A recent survey conducted by CNN-IBN and CSDS showed him leading in 150 out of the 182 constituencies. This exceeds the 126 seats he won the last time.

Nonetheless, the road is not a smooth one for Modi as he has anti-incumbency and intra-party rebellion to deal with.

With the main Opposition, the Congress, trying to rebuild its traditional vote bank of Kshatriyas, Dalits, tribals and Muslims, Modi has a fight on hand.
