Praful's inflation excuse: changing food habits

ON THE MENU: Civil Aviation Minister says government doing its best against inflation.
New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel believes “changing food habits” is causing inflation, which last week hit a record 7.41 per cent.
“In our country, a lot of changes have taken place. Food habits have changed, and in the north people have begun consuming rice and in the south wheat. Population pressure is there (and ) as income rises, there will be more consumption,” he said in Ahmedabad.
The country’s annual rate of inflation rose further to a 40-month high of 7.41 per cent due to higher food and commodities prices.
The wholesale price-based inflation, which stood at 7 per cent in the previous week, surged to 7.41 per cent for the week ended March 29, the highest since November 2004.

He should be ashamed of himself for passing the buck on the suffering citizens by blaming them for eating food.
