Bangalore: It has been over three years since the rape and murder of Bangalore girl Pratibha Srikanth Murthy. Her family still awaits justice despite the case being referred to a fast-track court.

The 28-year-old BPO employee of HP, Pratibha is grieved by her near and dear ones, and the delayed justice hurts them.

“Her murder took place once, but in the last three years, each day her murder is taking place in the court,” lamented the victim’s uncle, S Srinivasa.

The rape and murder of this 28-year-old BPO employee of HP had shocked the nation in December 2005.

Police said they had the killer - allegedly her own office cab driver Shivakumar - but the trial in a fast-track court has been going on for over three years now.

The victim’s family has begun to question the purpose or reasons for the delay in delivery of justice.

“It's more than 3 years and nothing is firm. Everyone's is struggling. The culprits are going elsewhere and women are suffering. Women in service, especially night service are suffering. As for Pratibha, there's no solace to her soul!” added S Srinivasa.

IT city, for all its grandeur, is still a place women are unsure of their safety.

Many women say that in Bangalore, you can't walk in the roads at night as it's just too unsafe.

Two years ago, another BPO employee Tanya Banerjee was killed while on her way home from work. That case too is still being tried.

The jury's still out, but the family feels that only a conclusive verdict can pass a strong message to potential offenders, so working women too can feel safer in the metro.
