New Delhi: It could be the big Rahul scare. Even as Rahul Gandhi's position within the Congress is being strengthened, the older generation is feeling weak and sidelined.

Arjun Singh's anger and sulking is suddenly quite unrestrained. In his book, Mohin Kahan Vishram, the HRD Minister says that today's Congress does not involve all in decision making.

Furthermore, Arjun Singh also said that: "Today, loyalty is defined in limited terms."

Ironically, it's Arjun's loyalty to 10 Janpath which has often been under the scanner.

Snubbed for his remark that Rahul Gandhi should be the Prime Minister, Arjun Singh's frown has been getting deeper — especialy with talk that Rahul disagrees with the minister's handling of the HRD Ministry and would prefer someone else to take over.

Also, Rahul Gandhi has his own 'gang ' — younger and different, and leaving little room for most other seniors.

While some sulk, others move on. Former Congress MP, Akhilesh Das accused Rahul Gandhi of nurturing a coterie and decided to quit the Congress and join the BSP. Meanwhile, where Congress sulks, Mayawati smiles.

It's a sign of changing times within the grand old party, but the Congress's dilemma is that leaders with some clout like, Arjun Singh, can neither be completely ignored nor absorbed totally.
