New Delhi: The ongoing Gurjar agitation has badly affected the schedule of trains passing through Rajasthan. Many trains have either been cancelled or diverted.

The major trains that have been cancelled include the August Kranti Express, the Dehradun-Bandra Express and the Nizamuddin-Udaipur Intercity Express.

Nizamuddin-Indore Intercity, Firozpur-Mumbai Janta Express and the Nizamuddin-Kota Jan Shatabdi too have been cancelled.

The other trains that won't be running on Wednesday include the Nizamuddin-Bandra Garib Rath Express, the Nizamuddin-Kochivalli Rajdhani Special, the Jammu Tawi-Bandra Swaraj Express, the Jammu Tawi-Bandra AC Special, the Gujarat Sampark Kranti Express, the Gorakhpur Award Express, the Ibadat Express and the Gorakhpur-Okha Express.

Hundreds of passengers were still stranded at different stations in the region as the train movement in other sections was also badly affected by the agitation.

According to Railway sources, they have suffered a loss of about Rs 2 crore due to cancellation of tickets of the cancelled or diverted trains.

The train services have been stopped due to the agitation by Gujjar Samaj Mahapanchayat Samiti and large-scale public disturbance between Gangapur City-Bayana section in Kota Division, a Northern Railway statement said.

Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation's unit at New Delhi has also suffered losses of over Rs 15 lakh due suspension of its 60 bus services to Alwar and Tizara.

"Our Delhi-Jaipur and Delhi-Bharatpur service is normal but Delhi-Alwar and Delhi-Tizara route is badly affected due to the ongoing agitation," a senior RSTC official was quoted as saying by PTI.

"We are losing about Rs 3-4 lakh daily due to cancellation of our 60 bus services to Alwar and Tizara," he added.
