Mumbai: Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will complete two years this weekend. Ironically, north Indian workers are setting up the stage for the leader's speech at the rally.
Raj Thackeray made his debut with his own party in 2006. However, in just two years MNS has managed to create a buzz, stirring up an old debate of ‘Marathi Asmita’.
The question is whether Raj Thackeray will shrug off his high-profile arrest and stoke the anti-north Indian fire once again.
"There's nothing wrong that Raj Thackeray has said. It is public outcry," says spokesperson, MNS, Shirish Parkar.
Ironically though, the stage upon which Thackeray will stand tall is being put together by North Indians, who were Thackeray's most recent target.
“When some one tries to be cruel to us, it will definitely have an effect,” says a worker, Mannu Prasad.
Oddly enough, North Indian taxi drivers too are on Thackeray's wish list. Its interesting how Raj Thackeray's party that in the recent past attacked north-Indian taxi drivers now wants to garner the support of the taxi union as a show of strength at the rally.
However, some of them say, they'd rather skip the show. “On Saturday, about 50 per cent of taxi’s will be on strike,” says taxi driver, Kishan Singh.
