more rajnirocks Rajni Rules.

I totally agree with Hari. The fact is that , Rajnikanth is no more an actor than an idol.
He has this unique persona, that only few in Indian Cinema has.

Rajinikanth remains to be the highest paid actor, for a simple matter of fact that he is able to generate profits for all those that are involved in his film.

When his movie BABA didnot do well, he was generous enough to give the money back to all who invested in his film more than what they invested, just to make sure of his reputation that none of his investors/financiers ever went losing.

He has a huge fan following in Japan too,Given the fact that his recent movies invariably have a japanese character. His movie "Muthu" was a huge hit in Japan.

His face value is so high that he even influeneced the results of 1996 parliament elections in TN.However he is someone who likes to be in the cocoon, ie not to get involved in controversies.

There's some magic in his Name and Personality and Style.Remember, nobody influences small kids like him when it comes to punch dialogue delivery and his unique style.

Apparently, he is a shrewd investor himself, he invests all his money earned from on profitable businesses and not in Cinema.

This guys is sure one to watch out for.
Rajni Rocks.

more Sivaramakrishnan That is a total waste paying an old man who acts with heroines who need to call him "grandfather". It is high time the Producers or Directors realise this and stop screening him as an actor. Let Gollywood see someone new as the Super Star.

Arwin I feel Manichitratazhu is million times better than Chandramukhi even though I'm no fan of south Indian movies. Rajnikant just sucks. He has no glamour, no acting skills. He just stands in front of the camera and blabbers loudly. What a shame to Kollywood!

Kiran RAJINI IS THE ULTIMATE SUPER STAR. If someone says he is jus hype and no acting skills, he is completely wrong. Kamal experiments but Rajini has his own style and acting skills. Infact if u want to see Rajini in his best check out his old films in late 70's and early 80's and u can see his acting skills.

And his comedy is superb. Someon talked abt Manachitrathazhu...Agreed C'mukhi is a remake of the same but the sheer presence of rajini has made the film better than the original.

hari There is something special abt him that makes the masses go berserk. He can't dance very well, his action scenes are blown out of proportion and his tamil is accented. Yet I adore him. If you had been at any of the USA cinema halls for chandramukhi releases, you would know the kind of hold he has. Well educated white collar professionals had his photo pasted on their cars, t-shirts etc and did arthi for his poster and the movie started with the fanfare seen in any of the remotest class C cinema halls in India. I dont think that kind of mass hysteria is anywhere else in the world. CNN-IBN has mentioned only abt the regional presence. It has forgotten the Tamil population in Sri Lanka, S.Africa, Maldives, Singapore, Malaysiam, Europe, Canada and US. Just as Hindi is popular in central asia, Tamil is popular in SE Asia. So, its no suprise. But for beating the badshah's of Bollywood, kudos to Rajini.

more bawari In a state that sacrificed its upper class to the USA, people like Rajanikant cater to the sections that are left. Among all his superhit movies, Rajnikant does not have one that can speak quality or versatality. He may be good personally but as an actor, I cannot think of one more overrated. Kamal Hassan, a far superior actor, has never had this kind of adulation.

You cannot compare him to the big B for the very fact that Bachhan has carried off a string of characters with amazing effect.

I would like articles on Mamooty, Mohanlal, Anant Nag and the like who may not cater to the front benchers but are legends worth talking about.
