NO CAN DO: Abdul Karim Telgi does not want 'Mudrank', a film based on his life story, to be released.
Mumbai: One of the reasons why Abdul Karim Telgi — kingpin of fake stamp paper racket — does not want film on his life to release is an `item song' by Rakhi Sawant.
Mudrank, the film based on Telgi's life, is due for release in June. Krishna Manav, who plays the film's protagonist `Velgi', met the real-life scamster at sessions court on Monday.
"I myself closed my eyes during the vulgar item song (performed by Sawant)," Telgi told AdditionaHxæºuions Judi.
Manav had a one-on-one chat with Telgi, in an attempt to persuade him to withdraw the opposition to the release.
According to Telgi, who previewed the movie last year, the screenplay is not factually correct.
"The movie claims that many police officials and politicians were hand-in-glove with me. My life will be in danger if the movie is released," Telgi told the court.
Judge Bedi summoned Manav to the court remarking, "Who is this dummy Telgi? Let's see how much resemblance does he have."
Telgi also said that it was a "low budget film and would be a "super flop".
Other filmmakers including Mahesh Bhatt too have approached him for making a film on his life, he said.
Finally, after talking to Manav, Telgi assured him that he would give the issue another thought.
