New Delhi: Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramdoss has added another name to his hit list of celebrity smokers.

The health minister is now urging West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to quit smoking.

Ramadoss said, “About 71 per cent of men in West Bengal use tobacco and the chief minister is one of them."

This remark comes close on the heels of Bloomberg Initiative rejecting a WHO application for funds to curb tobacco consumption in Kolkatta.

The reason given was that the chief minister himself was a smoker and wouldn't be able to urge others to quit.

Buddhadeb is just one of the many West Bengal chief ministers who have been chains smokers.

It's a habit he picked up from Pramod Das Gupta his guru and the man responsible for building the CPI (M) in West Bengal.

However, even though the state has lost millions of dollars due to it's chief minister’s reputation as a smoker, he still has the support of the people.
