AT LOGGERHEADS: The case of medical negligence has turned into a difference of opinion between Ramadoss and Venugopal.

AIIMS top doc sacked for operation botch up
Prof A Sampath Kumar operated upon a 12-year-old boy who died later.
New Delhi: Patients Rights is a book authored by the Head of the Cardio Thoracic Department at AIIMS, Professor Sampat Kumar.
However, now Professor Kumar is in the dock, accused of medical negligence leading to the death of a 12-year-old boy from Leh, Tsering Norbu.
Documents available with CNN-IBN clearly show that instead of operating on Norbu's small artery, Professor Sampat blocked his main artery which supplies blood to the heart.
Predictably, Professor Kumar maintains his innocence, saying that the allegations against him are baseless.
The 12-year-old patient came to AIIMS in March and died soon after the operation.
While the dead boy's family cannot be traced, the incident has become the latest chapter in the Ramadoss-Venugopal tussle, especially, after Venugopal removed Professor Sampat from his HOD post.
According to the Public Relations Officer at AIIMS, Shakti Gupta, a five-member committee has been formed to look into the incident.
"A committee under the chairmanship of Rajeev Tandon has been formed to look into the matter The committee has to submit a report in two weeks. Meanwhile, Professor Kumar has been removed from the post of the Head of the Cardio Thoracic and Cardio Vascular Centre," Gupta, said.
However, a defiant Professor Kumar stated soon after: "Nobody can sack me. I have been appointed by the President of AIIMS, who is the Health Minister, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss."
The Health Ministry meanwhile, has sent a fax saying that the Director's order on the removal of the HOD should be put in abeyance.
It is yet another case of alleged medical negligence, another instance where opinions of the two camps are at loggerheads, but in this entire episode the patient's family cannot be traced as they belong to a group of nomadic tribes.
However, once they are traced and if they register a complaint, only then can the case take a new turn.
