Hari I see it as a bright prospect.
Just think if that guy patents Shavasana ( Dead/Sleeping Pose ) Gosh then no one in US ( Dont worry about rest of the world , patents doesnt work else where ) would be able to sleep.
Ive seen this Bikram Guy.He is a man after money , teaching Yoga to Rich Hollywood Clients for Large Sum oF Money and Fame. Yoga Teachers have always been people propagating the values and teachings of Yoga and not to accumulate wealth.

Minakshi Nobody in the world, even an NRI can ever claim a patent on Yoga,Yoga is a part,a culture of every Indian, it belongs to each and every Indian and that person should seriously be confronted by the Indian Government, and not only this the Government should take a wide step to print out a list of things such as Ayurveda, reiki etc which are a part of Indian civilisation and cannot be put a label on by a Individual person or organisation,in India or abroad. This list should also be periodically updated.

mohaghna choudhury no one has the right to patent something as intrinsic to the Indian way of life as yoga .it indeed is more than just a set of exercises.it is a way of life that one no one can confine for themselves.we must stand up for this issue.

Sid The US patent laws are ridiculous, one can patent any god damn thing. Tommorow I'm going to patent "Jogging" and what about patenting "Surya Namaskar" !!! . The Indian government should cancel and passport of that NRI
guy, get him back to India and put him behind bars. First it was basmati rice and then neem and this now, this is ridiculous.

guna It is like the Bible or the Koran can be patented.Let the US Govt issue a patent for the BIBLE and we will take it. It is ridiculous to patent the yoga.It is a science for all to benefit.
