New Delhi: Ten-man Real Madrid clinched the Primera Liga title in sensational fashion after a dramatic late comeback to win 2-1 at Osasuna on Sunday.

Things looked gloomy for the visitors when Fabio Cannavaro was sent off shortly after the interval and Patxi Punal put the home side ahead from the penalty spot with just eight minutes remaining.

But Arjen Robben equalised five minutes later and substitute Gonzalo Higuain struck with less than 60 seconds left on the clock to secure a second consecutive league title and the 31st overall — a record — for Madrid.

Meawhile, Barcelona, who were eliminated in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League earlier this week, ended their recent goal drought with a stunning 6-0 rout of Valencia on Sunday.

Lionel Messi, Xavi and Thierry Henry all netted early on as the Catalans raced into a three-goal lead within 14 minutes.

Henry then added a fourth after the break and substitute Bojan Krkic bagged a brace late on as Frank Rijkaard's side ran riot against Valencia.

Despite the win, the Catalan giants remain on the third position, four points behind Villarreal.
