New Delhi: Hollywood star Russell Crowe is all set to own a team in the upcoming Indian Premier League.

Planned by the BCCI and backed by the ICC, the league will be played in the Twenty20 format.

According to media reports, Crowe, who jointly owns the South Sydney Rugby League Club is actively considering buying a franchise in the IPL.

Crowe is a cousin of former Kiwi captains Jeff and Martin Crowe. Reports also suggest the owners may hire players like Ricky Ponting and Brett Lee to play for the Rabittohs, as the club is better known, in Mumbai next year.

A host of Australian players including Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Mike Hussey and Andrew Symonds have already signed up for IPL.
