New Delhi: Records are meant to be broken but what when it's the same person who breaks record after record it is bound to make everyone sit up and take notice.

And one such athlete is Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva who is all set to pole vault into the history books.

Isinbayeva is one of the most glamorous track and field star in world sport. She created a new world record when she pole vaulted 5.03 meter at the Golden League meeting in Rome on July 11. It was her world record No. 22.

She is also the first woman to pole vault over five meters. The reigning Olympic gold medallist has eight straight gold medals in indoor and outdoor meets.

"Every time when I go compete I focus for the victory and I focus for the winning. But the other time I'm a little bit happy that my rivals start to feel that they could do something, that maybe somewhere inside they can feel that they can beat me or something because this winter I lose one time, that give me motivation also because they will push me up, they will how can I say, keep me focused, yeah? So that is great and I like this, I like to win through the tough fighting," says Isinbayeva.

At 26, Isinbayeva has her best years ahead of her but so strong has been her domination of the women’s' pole vault that it seems she has been around for years.

Her loves include dolphins and Russian history and she is also a Senior Lieutenant in the Russian Army and that perhaps explains the strict training regimen.

Unlike other athletes with oversized egos Isinbayeva is someone who spends hours with her fans, for her they are the motivation.

"Now I compete maybe not for myself I compete for those other people for again the kids and all my fans. I would like to make happy people around me, the people who work for me, who help me, who support me because yeah I achieved a lot of things but I would like to repeat everything which I achieved before because my life changed a lot since last 2 years and I have a huge motivation and a huge, how can I say, objective for Beijing," she says.

Her last Olympics catapulted her to superstardom. She is called the female Sergei Bubka and another Olympic title will seal the legend of the best female pole vaulter ever.
