BIG BANG: Bhansali's Saawariya is a dream debut launch that any actor would die for.
Mumbai: Two and a half hours delay. Misty-eyed families. Great expectations. The music launch of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Saawariya saw that and much more. Because it was the dream debut launch that any actor would die for.
So when debutants Ranbir and Sonam were escorted on stage by actors Salman Khan and Rani Mukherji, the two kids on the block were overwhelmed to say the least.
“I will say that I will strive to work harder so that you say I was worthy of this tribute,” Ranbir promised Bhansali at the launch.
“I'm here because of my parents and that sir (Bhansali) decided that I was worthy of doing his film and all I want is for them to be proud of me,” said Sonam.
And the magnitude of this starry launch got even actors Salman Khan and Rani Mukherji envious.
"I wish I had a launch pad like this during Maine Pyaar Kiya,” said Salman.
"It’s the best thing to be launched by Bhansali," agreed Rani.
As for these proud actor parents, emotional as they may be at the moment, they're hoping for the best and keeping their fingers crossed.
"I cannot describe what I'm feeling now. It’s beyond words,” said Anil Kapoor.
"I stand before you with folded hands. Please bless him as you have blessed all the others from my family for the past 80 years. He is the first male actor after four generations to come into the industry,” said veteran actor Rishi Kapoor.
Bhansali has taken up the extra responsibility of editing the film himself, so did the expectations of the filmy families mean the extra pressure? And will the film live up to Bhansali's track record? For now, we can only give you this sneak peak of what is up for grabs!
