The Dutt siblings – Priya, Sanjay and Namrata – came together on Thursday to talk about the book that they have compiled in the memory of their parents Sunil and Nargis Dutt. Trying hard to keep their emotions in check, the three talk about the book Mr and Mrs Dutt: Memories of Our Parents and their life with their parents.

CNN-IBN: How did the idea of this book come up?

Priya Dutt: What really happened was that my sister Namrata was clearing up my father's things after he passed away. Sanjay and me just didn't have the courage to do it. So, she went ahead and was sorting his things out and in the process found so many things, which were perfectly preserved by him.

He had marked and written notes on all his photographs and segregated all his documents as if one day he was going to write an autobiography. It seemed as if he was just waiting for the right time for it to happen. And that's when we felt that we should do something with all that he had left us. And I think we have done it with great honesty and simplicity.

CNN-IBN: I am sure everybody has contributed their bit to the book. Sanjay, what was your contribution in selecting the pictures and the other things?

Sanjay Dutt: No, actually most of the hard work was done by Namrata as Priya said. But yes, my childhood thoughts are all there in the book.

CNN-IBN: There is a beautiful picture of Sanjay with your mother Nargis in which she is holding you upside down and you have a wonderful expression on your face. What do you think about the picture?

Sajay Dutt: I just have to say that I really miss my parents. And the love that we share is evident enough on the picture. There is another picture with my father in the beginning of the book, which is my favourite.

People should read this book because of two great human beings not just in India but, in the whole world and they are my parents. People should read it for the values my parents upheld and how they have raised their children. Please don't just go through the pictures but also read it.
