New Delhi: Sanjay Dutt will walk out of Pune’s Yerwada Jail on Tuesday as a free man for a few days. The jailed actor has earned freedom by drilling a hole in 1993 Mumbai blasts case judge PD Kode's sentencing and the judgment.

Dutt's lawyers were able to convince the court that it was indeed unjust to be given a six-year jail term without being told why.

However, this relief is just temporary and it comes with a rider. The Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan said, “It is not possible for us to consider the nature of evidence against the accused in the absence of a copy of the judgment. But the moment the judgment is available they will have to surrender.”

This temporary relief has brought a huge respite to the family and friends of Dutt. “I am grateful to God and the judiciary for making me see such a day,” an emotional and jubilant Priya Dutt said.

And it seems along with the ruling Congress, even the country's Law Minister Hansraj Bhardwaj appeared relieved. “I cannot comment on the matter as it is sub-judice but I am happy that he has got some relief,” Bhardwaj said.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made its stand clear that it is taking the case seriously and was not favouring any individual.

So far Dutt has had it easy in the Supreme Court. But the road ahead of him is going to be tough because when his regular bail matter comes up for hearing there will be resistance from the CBI.
