New Delhi: The eighth edition of the International Indian Film Academy or the IIFA weekend kick starts on Friday in Bangkok.

Bollywood stars were welcomed with a traditional music and dance performance. IIFA's brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan arrived on along with son Abhishek and daughter- in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The Bachchans are also here to promote their latest film Sarkar Raj. Keenly-awaited Bollywood flick Sarkar Raj, featuring cast from celebrity family of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, received an overwhelming response at its premiere at high-profile International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) ceremony.

A political thriller, showcasing Amitabh along with son Abhishek Bachchan and his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sarkar Raj drew huge crowds to its premiere at a theatre in a Bangkok shopping mall, almost putting the situation out of the hand for security guards.

While the immensely popular family of superstars walked by for the premiere, a large number of people cheered them from sides of the green carpet and desperately tried for pictures.

Actor Vivek Oberoi walked in for IIFA sporting his new look. Yesteryear actor Jeetender was also one the first few to make it to the venue. The IIFA Awards 2008 will be announced and presented on Sunday.
