NEW AVENUE: Podcasts could be on anything from tech shows to sports.
Mumbai: Always wanted to be an Internet star and didn't know how well then the job for you is a podcaster and before you scoff just keep in mind that it's a 70 million dollar industry in the US.
So what's so special about two normal guys sitting in a room and chatting with each other about a current subject?
They're producing a podcast - an audio or video file that can be put on the Internet and downloaded onto your iPod or phones.
Aditya and Abhishek are the creators of theindicast.com - one of the first and still one of the very few Indian podcast available. They released their first podcast episode two years ago and now have a dedicated stream of subscribers.
Podcaster Aditya says, “You went to college but didn't attend but you learn everything you needed to know in the canteen thru your friends. That's exactly what we are college canteen conversations.”
Podcasts could be on anything from tech shows to sports and business to just plain current affairs.
And that’s where Aditya comes in. He says the process is as simple as record, edit and publish and there it is online available for people to subscribe to on the net as well as on their iPods or phones.
No formal training is required for the job - just some technical skills.
For Aditya and Abhishek podcast currently is just a side occupation but they swear it can be the next big thing.
Abhishek says, “We have a business plan ready in the US this is already a 70 ms$ industry.”
It's fun and these guys make it look very simple and many say after the broadcast boom it's the podcast boom that'll hit India.
