Say lord and clear: This college's chairman is Hanuman

PLUSH JOB: In a Lucknow college, Hanuman has his own air-conditioned chamber, a swivel chair and a full-time attendant.
New Delhi: Surely an institution is only as good as its leader, but managing a college is quite a herculean task that sometimes calls for superhuman abilities. But if a mere mortal weren’t up to the job, who would it be?
At the Bhagat Singh College of Technology and Management, Lucknow, the management decided to send the call letter to none other than the affable Lord Hanuman himself.
“I believe in God, so whatever I do, I do in his name. I run my decisions through him too,” college President Pankaj Singh explains.
The management decided to have Hanuman as the college chairman after the board of trustees failed to find a consensus on any of the other candidates.
And for them, the coveted post isn't merely symbolic. Hanuman has his own air-conditioned chamber, a swivel chair and a full-time attendant. The board even reports to the chairman every day.
“The Director takes care of the legal matters, and the Vice Presidents handle the functional aspects of the college. Our chairman Hanuman need only bless us with our work,” Vice President Vivek Kangdi says explaining the job profile of the new appointee.
While rationalism and cynicism rule the roost in the new millennium, simple faith still manages to hold its own in little pockets, even where they teach technology.
