New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday granted permission to allowed Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi to travel anywhere in the country, clearing the decks for her to act in films again.

"I am very grateful to the SC and honourable judges for trusting me and giving me this permission. I have certain offers but none of them is finalised," said Monica.

But the former companion of don Abu Salem will have to inform police of her travel plans in advance said the Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan. Monica had moved an application in the Apex court seeking permission to move out of Hoshiarpur.

A previous court order had confined her to her ancestral village in Punjab. She was asked not leave the village without prior permission.

Bedi had said that she had a few offers from filmmakers but that would entail travelling to Delhi and Hyderabad frequently.

Bedi was acquitted in a passport forgery case in Bhopal and granted bail in a similar case pending in Hyderabad by the Supreme Court, which had asked her to remain in her village and not leave without permission.

She had been arrested with Abu Salem in 2002 in Lisbon, Portugal and both were later extradited to India.
