SC reprimands Modi, prevents journo's arrest

APPREHENDING ARREST: Nandy faces charges for promoting enmity through an article on the Gujarat poll outcome.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday severely reprimanded the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat for slapping a sedition case against a senior journalist.
The apex court protected sociologist and author, Ashis Nandy from being arrested by the Gujurat Police.
The senior journalist had moved the Supreme Court apprehending his arrest.
Nandy faces criminal charges for allegedly promoting enmity between groups in the society through his analytical article on the 2007 Gujarat poll outcome.
Making a strong remark on the sedition case, the Supreme Court said: "Gujarat is the state of Mahatma Gandhi and it's very strange that the state governemnt is unable to take any criticism".
