Shilpa 'backs out' of deal, sues UK-based 'agent'

CONTROVERSY’S CHILD: Shilpa sued Jasveer Barton after she was accused of backing out on a deal.
New Delhi: Shilpa Shetty has gone to court against UK-based Jasveer 'Jazz' Barton, who the actress says posed as her agent in Britain.
Shilpa claims that Barton made commitments and even signed a deal on her behalf, while she was participating in the UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother.
''We have put up a case at the City Civil Court, Mumbai, asking for an injunction against Barton's untrue claims and demands,'' Shilpa's spokesperson and publicist Dale Bhagwagar was quoted by news agency UNI as saying.
Bhagwagar added, “Now that Shilpa is world famous, Barton has been trying to extract money from her. She has been sending her legal notices, seeking a cut from Shilpa's earnings.”
Barton, along with Bobby Khan, had introduced Shilpa to Endemol - the casting-agency for Celebrity Big Brother.
Some UK newspapers had even started addressing Barton as Shilpa's 'agent' and Bobby Khan as her 'manager.'
Barton and Khan themselves say Shilpa had recently backed out of a deal which they had made on her behalf.
Shilpa’s popularity is on the rise in UK after she won Big Brother contest earlier this year. In a recent survey there, the actress was voted the actress most favoured to be the leading lady in the next James Bond film with Daniel Craig.
