New Delhi: Delhi-based junior football club Shimla Youngs is gearing up for their tour to Wales to compete with their counterparts at the Welsh Super Cup.
Last minute preparations are on for the three Shimla Youngs teams that will make the trip to the Welsh Super Cup this weekend where they will compete with clubs from all over the world.
They will compete on the very same grounds that discovered talents like Andrei Shevchenko and Steven Gerrard.
"Many scouts from clubs come for hunt. I hope that one of our player is also selected," club coach Manoj says.
One such hopeful is 16-year-old Prithviraj Dev. A diehard Manchester United fan, Prithvi has known nothing but football ever since he was introduced to the Beautiful Game at the age of four.
"I want to play professional football and this international trip will give me exposure," Prithvi says.
Though the vision has always been there the funds have been missing. But following the promise that these youngsters hold corporates decided to lend a hand.
Spice Energy's Andaleeb Sehgal says that his company is happy to help the young players.
And its not all in vein. And the youngsters too are very sure of what they want out of their trip to Wales.
They all shout in a chorus that they will win the tournament.
These kids chose to be different and chose the path less travelled. In a country crazy about cricket, they played football and trips like the one to Wales helps them realise they made the right decision.
