New Delhi: Navjot Singh Sidhu can't wait to have a good laugh!

After he was sentenced to three years' imprisonment for the death of Gurnam Singh in Patiala on December 27, 1988, the cricketer-turned-politician and television host had disappeared from the small screen even though he continued with his political activities all across Punjab.

But Sidhu seems to have forgotten the court conviction soon enough to return to the small screen to play a laughter master. Laughter Champions Mahayudh, a six-episode reality TV contest that pits the wittiest and the most hilarious comedians on the small screen against each other in a battle of humour, will see Navjot Singh Sidhu heading a team against the team of Bollywood's villain Shakti Kapoor.

The six-episode series kicks off on January 19.

Followed by the success of The Great Indian Laughter Champions and Challenge Dwitiya, the Mahayudh will bring together the best talents from both Season to take millions of Indians to towering heights of frenzy and sheer delight, a release said.

According to the producers, there will be 12 participants divided into Sidhu and Shakti's team. The participants would be eliminated in every round based on points given by the studio audience.

In a new avatar, the show promises to be snazzier and spruced up with unimaginable comical histrionics, the release added.
