New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh will meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to seal their tie-up on the Indo-US nuclear deal on Friday.

The SP on Thursday, got former president Abdul Kalam's stamp of approval on the nuclear deal..

Speaking exclusively with CNN-IBN, Amar Singh explained what transpired through the day.

NSA's reply

When I met NSA, I gave Jaswant Singh and Prakash Karat's apprehensions to him and also the UNPA's. He clarified but I said that your clarification holds no water.

PM's response

I was pleasantly surprised that within one hour a point-by-point reply came and was posted on the PMO website. It was a firm reply.

Why Kalam?

We discussed many names and Mulayam said since his days as a Defence Minister, there was only one person. He has been the President of India and father of India's missile programme, knows about all the five explosions and has the distinction of working with many PMs.

Kalam's opinion

Lack of uranium has created many problems in the nuclear reactors, they are being used to up to only 30-40 per cent of their capacity and we need uranium. For this purpose we need this deal. This is what Kalam said, not me.

UNPA's decision

Dr Kalam's point of view will be carried by our chairman, Mulayam Singh and he will be telling it to everyone concerned and depending on everyone says, a decision will be taken.
