Singur drama hottest for Durga Pujo pandals

NANO PUJO: Nano has smoothly integrated itself with the divine goddess at Kolkata's pujo pandal.
Kolkata: The Singur Nano project may have run into troubled waters, but the car itself has smoothly integrated itself with the divine goddess at Kolkata's pujo pandal.
Industrialisation - the most controversial issue in West Bengal these days - is this year's theme at the Santosh Mitra Square Durga pujo committee. And organisers of one of the most extravagantly budgeted community pujos of Kolkata feel their message to the pandal hoppers would ring loud and clear.
Santosh Mitra Square Puja Committee Organiser, Pradip Ghosh says, "We support industrialisation. But over the past few decades more than 50,000 industrial units in this state have closed down. They must be reopened first. The jobless must be reinstated. And only then we want this Rs 1 lakh car project."
A replica of the Nano would be on display for pujo revelers. Sarcastically anagrammed Nata Mano the car, organisers hope it would symbolise the aspirations of the victims of industrial backwardness in the state. The main pandal on the other hand would depict a closed industrial unit.
Santosh Mitra Square Puja Committee Organiser, Sukumar Mukherjee says, "This has got an immense influence on the viewers about the socio-economic impact."
Kolkata's pujo organisers have thrown their hats in the ring to support for industry and conditional support for the Singur Nano facility. It's now up to the pujo revelers to decide what message they will take back home from the pandals.
