Sivaji touches the magic mark, completes 100 days

HYPE AND HOOPLAH: The film broke records for collections by a Tamil film not only in India but also abroad.
Chennai: The Rajnikanth starrer blockbuster Sivaji - The Boss which released in June this year, had a dream opening.
Theatres ran into packed houses even a month after the release of Sivaji. And now the film has hit the 100-day mark. With 800 prints released worldwide Sivaji has set the record for completing 100 days in the most number of theatres ever – 105.
"It released in about 800 theatres globally. Now we've got information that in South Africa two theatres are running to 100 days,” says Producer of Sivaji, AVM Saravanan.
Sivaji is not only high on records but its also 'The Boss' when it come to entertaining the audiences.
"It’s very nice entertainment. We know very well about Rajnikanth movies. He wanted to watch it again, that’s why we came again,” says a fan Uthra.
Another fan, R Gajendran adds, “I've watched the movie four times. The screenplay is very interesting.”
The film made on an all-time high budget of approximately Rs 90 crore, has been an exhibitors' favourite as far as the revenue goes.
"Its very good value for money. In INOX Chennai alone, we've collected Rs 1 crore 23 lakh plus net collections,” says General Manager, INOX, Vinod Babu.
And with this kind of popularity, Sivaji is already on its way to speaking in foreign tongues.
"It’s subtitled in Japanese. There are lots of enquiries from Malaysia about dubbing it into their language though the film has done 100 days there in Tamil,” says Saravanan.
