Sports bike Ducati all set to ride into India

New Delhi Every bike lover’s dream, Ducati — also known as Ferrari on two wheels — is soon going to enter Indian markets.
Ashish Chordia, who is also the official distributor for Porsche in India, will bring in the Italian iconic brand.
Ducati's senior management team, including its global CEO, will be in Delhi next week to announce their India plans.
The company plans to bring its flagship models like the Monster, Multistrada and 1098 super bike. The bikes will be fully imported in the 700 cc and above range and will come with a hefty price tag.
Ducati now joins other international bike makers like KTM and Kawasaki who have made heir entry into India through Bajaj Auto.
Four models of Kawasaki 'Ninja 250', sports roadster 'ER-6n', super sports bike 'Ninja ZX6R' and 'Vulcan Cruiser Z1000' will be available in Bajaj's pro-biking showrooms.
KTM will introduce two super model bikes '1190 RC 8' and '690 Duke' by the middle of 2008.
Yamaha recently launched two of its flagship models YZF-R1 and MT01 in India at a price of over Rs10 lakh.
Suzuki Motorcycles is also looking at importing the Hayabusa and its GSX range of super sports bike, which could include the GSX-1000.
With disposable incomes on the rise and the economy expected to grow by at least 8.5 per cent, these bike makers hope the total super bike market will touch a 1000 bikes per annum.
But, other major sports bike makers — like BMW — aren't very bullish. They feel that Indian market is not mature yet.
So bike lovers in India, but only those with fat wallets, have reasons to cheer.
