New Delhi: In a scathing attack on Natwar Singh and the Congress party, CPI on Tuesday demanded that the suspended Congress leader be stripped of his Parliamentary membership and said the Justice R S Pathak Authority had failed to come to right conclusions.

"As a Member of Parliament, Natwar Singh abused his position and did not discharge his duty... these are enough grounds for losing his membership," CPI's Gurudas Dasgupta said in the Lok Sabha.

Dasgupta, who initiated a discussion on the report of the Justice Pathak Inquiry Authority on Iraqi oil scam, accused Natwar of "abusing his position" while leading a Congress delegation to Iraq in 2001 and said he "manipulated" to convert the goodwill visit into a business visit.

Attacking the Congress party, he said it was a "colossal failure" on its part not to monitor actions of party functionaries who were using party's letterheads for personal gains.

"I am sorry to say that the Congress party is to be blamed. It is a colossal failure," he said adding other members of the Congress delegation to Iraq should have informed the party high command about the inclusion of Andaleeb Sehgal and Natwar's son Jagat Singh in the delegation.
