Hong Kong: Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan and Hong Kong pop star Jacky Cheung will perform at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Doha on December 1, along with Spanish tenor Jose Carreras and Lebanon's Magida El Roumi, organisers said on Tuesday.
Chauhan will sing Reach Out, written by Australian composers Paul Begaud and Vanessa Corish, organisers said, while Carreras and El Roumi will sing the duet Light the Way.
Cheung, one of Chinese pop's "Four Heavenly Kings" in the 1990s, will perform a song written for the opening ceremony, they said in a statement on their Web site.
Their performance will coincide with the arrival of the Asian Games torch, the statement said.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the Asian Games will be produced by Australian company David Atkins Enterprise, which also performed the same tasks for the Sydney Olympics in 2000, organisers said.
