Taliban denies killing Kutty
Kabul: Taliban on Sunday has denied that they had killed Indian BRO driver M R Kutty. In an exclusive interview to an Afghanistan-based TV channel Tolo TV, a Taliban commander denied that Taliban had killed Kutty.
Kutty was a driver with the Border Roads Organisation and was working on the Zaranj-Delaram road project in Afghanistan.
"The kidnapping and killing of the Indian was not done by Taliban. The work of constructing road does not hurt Islamic Emarat of Afghanistan, so we will not kill these innocent persons," said Mullah Dost Mohammad Akhund, Taliban commander in charge of southwestern Afghanistan.
"It's done by the enemy of Afghanistan," he added.
This announcement contradicts the one Taliban had made earlier claiming responsibility for killing Kutty.
Earlier, Taliban spokesperson Qari Yusuf Ahmadi had claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and killing.
Qari Mohammed Yousaf revealed that Kutty had been killed since the Indian government did not respond to Taliban's demands.
He was the one who first informed the news agencies that Kutty has been kidnapped and mentioned about the deadline.
Kutty was kidnapped in November 19 in the southern Nimroz province and his body was found dumped by the roadside in Delaram district of Nimroze province in southern Afghanistan.
