New Delhi: Controversial Bangladeshi author won't have to live out of a suitcase anymore. The Indian Government says that it will follow the principle of atithi devo bhava and let her stay on in India, but have said that they will not tolerate provocative statements from her.

This is the statement from Taslima Nasreen that has evoked this response from the Government: "If we allow fundamentalists to stay, then society cannot go ahead."

Some of the expectations of her which the Government laid down on Wednesday in Parliament were that she would not make statements like these which infuriates her critics, compromises her security and inflames passions.

External Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee said, "It is also expected that guests will refrain from activities and expressions that may hurt the sentiments of our people."

The Bangladeshi author was working on her book, Women Have No Country when she was forced to leave Kolkata and ironically, that best sums her predicament.

The Government may have decided to give her shelter but it has not yet been finalised where she will reside.

The West Bengal government is hardly in a position to accept her with open arms and the BJP is adamant that the minority appeasement policies of the UPA Government should be exposed.

BJP Spokesperson VK Malhotra had earlier said, "Where will Taslima go? Will she get a visa? They haven't even specified this yet?"

Taslima must be a relieved woman now that she will get to stay in India, but there is a restriction on her writings. However, will the author who dares to speak, agree to this?
