New Delhi/ Jaipur: It was in Room No. 101 of Hotel Shikha in Jaipur where controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen spent a rather sleepless night before being shifted out of here at the crack of the dawn on Friday.

An anxious Taslima reportedly made enquiries about the safety arrangements at the low profile the hotel after being turned away by two five-star hotels in Jaipur on Thursday evening.

"She was concerned about her security, she kept asking whether the guards outside her room were awake or not and if she could be shifted to a seven-star hotel and what the Muslim population of the area was,” said Deepak Sharma, owner of Hotel Shikha.

The Rajasthan Government provided her security but shifted her out of the state promptly.

“The West Betrngal government did not consult with us before they sent her here. She did not have any proper documents with her. Since that was the case we sent her to Delhi because now the Center has to take care of this issue,” said Rajasthan Home Minister, Gulab Chand Kataria.

With no state willing to accept Taslima Nasreen, fearing what happened in Kolkata few days ago, the author has finally been flown to the Capital late Friday evening.

Now in Delhi, at the moment she has been put up at Rajasthan House.

But with her visa expiring on February 17, the Government needs to take a tough call of whether they will continue to provide asylum to this controversial guest.
