more Lalitha Ramakrishnan I fully understand and appreciate the genuine concern of the citizens of this country against the fraud on Tatas by reliance. Yes we all know the way reliance has come up in the last few years to challenge the pioneers of Indian Industry, namely the Tatas. The fact that within two years of the passing away of Dirubhai Ambani, his children were taking on each other and have brought the bifurcation of the company only goes to show that however much they may try, there is someone above who will strike at the right time and they are bound to see the disintegration of the empire if they continue with such practises. The media should throw their weight with the tatas and expose the ambanis. Will they do it?

Espi "We have to get there somehow, who the hell cares how" is an old American saying about the ethos of robber barons of the early 20th Century. Reliance appears to subscribe to this dictum. It is crass to claim as Dhirubhai once did that the Indian bureaucracy and political setup was so hidebound that he had to resort to various dubious means to get things done. Today what his sons face is not so much the dead hand of bureaucrats but competition from both Indian and foreign giants who can match the financial muscle of Reliance. Hence the need to engage in corporate espionage to get ahead. Reliance should realize that means are increasingly important. Witness the respect that Tatas, Infosys and Wipro enjoy in India and abroad. High quality corporate governance, transparency in their operational plans and financial statements and enormous delegation of authority to employees are the reasons for this respect. Reliance should realize that you can grab wealth but respect has to be earned the hard way.

more anandh that in just one generation reliance has overtaken tatas a group built over 3 generations is testimonial to the fact that reliance uses unfair and unethical means to get by in this world.. they have no moral or social responsibility unlike the tatas who have been at the forefront of every development activity in the country.. i hope tatas pursue this case aggressively and the guilty are severly punished

Niranjan This generally happens in the corporate world. poor chap got arrested. It is obvious that reliance wont accept that he was working for them.

RS Sarma Reliance Group cannot at all be relied upon in matters of corporate espionage. They were known from LPQR days to garner the suport of govt. officials at the Centre, and shape the policy to suit their ends of growth (and of share holders?). Corporate wars can get dirty and murkier, and tatas not being generally equllay adept in the game, could lose out. In today's situation of Tata's acquisition of Corus and being the behemoth in the Indian corporate landscape, Reliance cannot soon compete in size and market cap, though in telcom, Tatas could face rough weather unless vigilant.
Tatas should take the spy battle to its logical conclusion and get the guity severely punished.

R. Padmanabhan It seems from the present case of vsnl vs reliance comm, that old habits die hard in the case of reliance even when they have grown big in different fields.
