New Delhi: Tata Motors may have found the Singur route an uphill climb, but Dharwad in Karnataka is ready to roll out the fast track for the Nano car project.

The Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has written to Tata Motors for further talks on the Nano plant being set up in Dharwad district of the state.

Tata Motors have already surveyed two sites in the district with the purpose of setting up a plant there. They are expected to reply by October 3.

Dharwad is a town about 425 kilometers from Bangalore and experts say that the land surveyed is perfect for a car plant. Firstly, because the farmers will readily part with the land, given its arid nature.

Some farmers led by the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) in Singur have been vehemently opposed to the acquisition of land for Tata Motors’ Nano car factory.

But in Dharwad, the Karnataka Chief Minister offers to remove all full stops.

Yediyurappa has reportedly offered to match the tax breaks and other benefits the West Bengal government had given Tata Motors plus 1,000 acres of land and other facilities.
