Teacher's slap renders school boy deaf

EARIE TALE: Navjot Singh was brought to the ENT with initial symptoms of traumatic performation.
Jalandhar: A student of a government school in Jalandhar was rendered deaf after he was slapped by a teacher at an inter-school sports meet.
Navjot Singh, a class XI student, who was admitted to a civil hospital, alleged that he was slapped on his ear yesterday while taking part in an event, by a teacher of a participating school.
Dr Raman Kumar, the ENT surgeon of the hospital, when contacted, said Navjot was brought to him with initial signs of traumatic perforation which means that a person loses his hearing due to some severe blow.
Police, armed with the medical report of the boy, said they have started investigation into the case. Harbhans Kaur, Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Lambra confirmed that a teacher of another school had slapped her student but she refused to divulge further details.
