A NEW BEGINNING: Tadd Fujikawa tees off during the first round of the Reno-Tahoe Open.
New Delhi: Sport is said to be the business of the young and it seems that with each passing day, it is becoming the business of the younger.
At 16 years, Tadd Fujikawa became the youngest professional golfer when he teed off at the Reno-Tahoe Open on Friday. While he may not have created a stir like his compatriot Michelle Wie but the young Hawaiian seemed pretty confident about his debut
"I'm really excited about it. It's my first time as a professional and it's in the PGA Tour and there's no better place to be, huh. The course is looking really nice and I'm really looking forward to it," Tadd Fujikawa said.
At just 5'1", Fujikawa can hit the ball remarkably well and this high school junior will miss his first week of school to take a swing at the $3 million on offer.
"Nothing really. Just to hit quality shots and hopefully I can make a few putts and make a few birdies," Fujikawa said.
So it is certainly teeing times ahead on the greens for the youngster.
